Question of the day: where can one find the best fried chicken? Some say Roscoe's. Others say Popeye's. I say Honey's.
"Honey's?" you ask. "Never heard of it."
I know. Let me first start by saying that Roscoe's and Popeye's are quite good. Waffles certainly make the meal at Roscoe's, but to be the best fried chicken, the chicken can't be dry. Popeye's gets a special mention simply because they do have some good chicken - nicely spiced, but yet, not up to par in my books.
Although not spiced as well as Popeye's, Honey's has a delicate crunch (much like beer battered anything) and is so moist it's ridiculous. Yes, it's greasy, but c'mon, it's fried chicken. What did you expect?
To bring your meal to the next level, you have to order biscuits. So buttery and sweet, the biscuits perfect balance the savory chicken (which is delicious dipped in house hot sauce). For drinks, I recommend Honey's fresh squeezed lemonade.
Next time you find yourself in downtown Culver City or Compton, do yourself a favor and stop at Honey's. Your taste buds will thank you.
